Directed Life

Dario wanted to draw elephants but his teacher asked him “Paint white houses with blue roofs.”
He wanted to be a musician but his father told him “study engineering.”
He raised a family because his girlfriend told him to.
One day his son asked him “What are you doing?"
He replied “I don’t know. Shall we paint white houses with blue roofs?”

  1. I think this story is great. It is very short but it has the necessary to understand the meaning. The ending or the last line is the clue. In my opinion, it is an story which makes you think about something, in this case, about if we are who direct our own lives. It could say the story has a moral or a lesson, or at least, "it says to you something".

  2. The story is rich in irony. It has a moral or a lesson to be learnt: only you live your life, so you have to direct it. That’s why it makes us relate to the main character: sometimes we are like him…
